What is "Footsteps on the Rain"
Footsteps in the Rain" is the most personal song I’ve ever written. It came from a moment I’ll never forget, the only time in my life I’ve had a panic attack. I was alone in Scotland, overwhelmed, unable to breathe, questioning everything. I didn’t know if I had made the right choices, or if I could keep going.
The lyrics reflect that feeling. I find myself wondering why I’m still here... It was a time of fear, of feeling suspended between leaving and staying, and just hoping that this tear is worth the pain that makes me stay.
Yet even in the middle of that storm, something in me kept moving. I looked up, breathed, cried, and wrote. This song became a quiet reminder that it’s okay to struggle. That even when there’s no sunshine on Leith, at least today, it doesn’t mean the sun won’t return.
Sometimes the best we can do is take one more step forward. Even if it’s through the rain. Even if it hurts. Because those steps, those quiet, trembling moments of courage, are just footsteps on the rain.

Lyrics

I find myself wondering why
I’m still here
The road is new and I just pray
That this tear
It’s worth the pain that makes me stay
I feel fear
No one knows but you
No one knows
No one knows
No one knows
No one knows
I don’t give up, I don’t give in
I carve my way
I just look up and breathe and cry
If it rains
Every drop can hide one pain
Leave or stay
The sun is still beneath the clouds
Let it shine and

No you don’t give up just breathe,
Try tame the pain
No there's no sunshine on Leith
At least today
No you don’t give up just breathe,
Try tame the pain
No, don’t be afraid
It’s just footsteps on the rain
I do my best, might not be enough
Still I’ll try
At the very least, it’s hard it’s tough
I won’t deny it
An unbeaten road is hard to find
Still worth the try
Even if one fails
Just remember to
No you don’t give up just breathe,
Try tame the pain
No there's no sunshine on Leith
At least today

Sometimes we concede the fear,
even too much space
We can take it back
Use it to find our way
To feel better stay by step
Just remember they are,
They are just footsteps on the rain.
